A Global Leader in FRP Composites Inspection & Engineering

UTComp CEO Jo Anne Watton and CTO Geoff Clarkson

From a standing start in 2008, UTComp has made incredible progress in our quest to improve the reliability and performance of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) equipment.

We’ve conducted thousands of inspections and assessments with our UltraAnalytix® NDT system, saving owners millions of dollars in asset replacement costs by safely extending asset service life to maximize their return on investment.

UltraAnalytix (UAX) technology developed out of requests from equipment owners for an objective, scientifically valid, non-destructive method to inspect FRP composite equipment.

From our first commercial job in 2008 to today, UltraAnalytix technology has identified and evaluated invisible damage from chemicals and stresses, which matches the same results from lab analysis of FRP materials.

Along the way, we have trained dozens of people around the world to do safe, accurate and effective inspections and we have developed a systematic methodology that also uses in-house artificial intelligence to provide accurate and meaningful reports to owners around the globe.

UTComp employees can perform any type of FRP inspection and do the engineering required for detailed assessment and remediation. Now with SNT-TC-1A certification available for inspectors, FRP equipment can be inspected and evaluated with a similar level of qualification and certification as for metallic equipment.

I am so proud of our team and look forward to continued innovation in the years to come.

Geoff Clarkson, Founder and Chief Technology Officer

While we are celebrating 15 years of UltraAnalytix (UAX) being in the marketplace, the journey starts well before this.

It was in 2000 that Geoff was inspired by the question of “how do we create the fitness for service curve for FRP composites like we have for steel?”

This question symbolizes so much, and the reasons for it have been at the core of our journey.

It is about our customers being able to make the right decision at the right time for repair and replacement of assets. It is helping our customers take a proactive approach to ensure the safety of their employees. It is about giving our customers repeatable and reliable answers to the questions that have plagued them. It is about UTComp searching for a better way.

We have always been dedicated to leadership and innovation in this industry. We are continually validating UAX and seeking new and exciting applications for the future.

We are forever thankful for the dedication of our customers, staff, licensees, suppliers and community for allowing us to do this work.

As we move into the next stage of our history, we see a great deal of opportunity, growth and expansion of UTComp and UAX. Exciting things are ahead.
